MTO initiated a Preliminary Design and Environmental Assessment (EA) Study for the Ottawa Queensway Downtown bridges from Metcalfe Street to Main Street in April 2017. An EA Study is a mandatory requirement in the Province of Ontario for any proposed road improvement project that has the potential for environmental effects. Completing the EA ensures that all reasonable alternatives and the environmental effects are considered in determining the recommended improvements associated with the future project(s).
The study area includes 7 bridges at 4 sites (see below).
